Welcome to The Organ Grinder's Monkey, a website telling the story of an itinerant priest sent by the Episcopal Church to announce Good News in the Meantime.

After I retired in 2005 I went on the road as an intentional interim. My constant goal is to encourage congregations to call a yokeperson, someone with whom they would share their ministry in the local community.

One of the gifts I have is the ability to predict which congregations will call a co-worker and which ones will hire a chaplain. What many congregations want is an organ grinder's monkey, someone who will amuse and dance from the far end of a short leash.

I dedicate this site to all of my colleagues who day in and day out try to announce their own tune while staying in touch with the contradictory demands and conflicting expectations of their congregations.
