1. Re-establish relationship with judicatory. Initiated warm and collegial relationship with Diocesan bishop, diocesan staff, and local clergy
2. Come to terms with history. Parish had just finished its Centennial Celebration and was saddened by the retirement of well-loved rector and then the death of his wife. Maintained collegial relationship with both former clergy. Established a centered position in order to minister to the extremes and the center of the parish.
3. Prepare for arrival of new rector. Helped profile committee create honest and encouraging profile. Provided recent photographs. Upgraded website. Clarified position and responsibilities of staff and parish officers. Instituted training upgrades for staff at the top of their pay grades.
4. Discern new leadership. Allowed some over-taxed leaders to take a vacation.
5. Re-discovered some parish traditions that had been left behind and were missed. Discerned the parish had significant liturgical roots and chanted them! |
